Backflow prevention assemblies have internal seals, springs and moving parts. They are designed to be repaired not replaced. The law is specific in that ‘ the device has to be operational and pass the test to be compliant’, should the device fail TESTING, repair is required. Required per TCEQ regulations; a failed device must be repaired and re-tested within 10days of the initial test. A repair could be as simple as disassembly and clearing debris or mayrequire replacement seals or springs.
